Summary

Imagine running a film production company for a day. Teams have a dead-line to make and the clock's ticking. Who will develop the winning script and storyboard the action? Teams need to work together and make vital decisions on how best to prepare for the final presentation to 'Miramax'.

Developed specifically to support Speaking and Listening, 20% of the GCSE grade, SpeakeasyMoviemaker delivers Enterprise whilst allowing English departments the perfect forum to evaluate student ability and assess achievement levels.

How it works

Teams start by identifying film genres, leading into Script development, plot development, character breakdowns, title, tag line, and then story-boarding a scene.

Then teams stretch their art and drama skills, developing film merchandise, posters, a DVD Case with blurb, websites and more.

Logistics allowing, now's the chance to produce a movie trailer on computers. You'll need up to date versions of Microsoft Movie Maker software on 1 computer per team in order for students to create a trailor for their film.

Before presenting final work together with an interview with the star cast, we instruct students on the importance of good presentation skills. We teach teams how to make a good first-impression using communication techniques.

A grand finale completes the programme as teams battle through heats, working towards the cash prize.
